Wednesday: Run 1 mile easy.
Thursday: Run 2 miles easy.
Friday: Run 2 miles easy.
Saturday: Run 2 miles easy.
Sunday: Run 2 miles easy.
Easy means at a conversational pace. I expect most of the runs throughout this training to be "easy" because it's not threshold training and I'm just trying to finish this half marathon, not like set a world record. Of course, to me, there is no such thing as an easy pace except for 0 miles an hour, preferably in front of my computer or with a chipotle burrito, or both. =)
Of course, the most fun part about running is the ridiculous attire you get to wear, like neon colored spandex, though that's not necessary in the summer. However, you do need to get running shoes so go to a running store and have them analyze how you run and they can tell you what shoes are best for you.
I wear the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 9s:
They're good for pronators.
Aside from shoes, you just need shirts and shorts and socks and you can run.
